Advanced Yard Management System 4.5 from PINC Announced

On the 1st of July 2014 in Alameda, California, PINC announced the launch of its Advanced Yard Management System (YMS) Version 4.5. This new supply chain technology is powered by the Internet of Things (IoT) and offers Integrated yard management, dock scheduling, and Real-Time Location System (RTLS). This Advanced YMS is delivered via Amazon Web Services.

As a cloud-based system, PINC’s advanced supply chain technology schedules dock doors, spots optimization opportunities, and tasks algorithms and analytics. All of the operational data collected by real-time sensors is continuously uploaded to the cloud—creating a comprehensive record that avoids duplicate data entry, increases velocity, improves decision making, and provides a higher return-on-investment for WMS, TMS, and ERP.

The Features of this Next Generation Supply Chain Technology

Some of the most exciting features of version 4 include the following capabilities:

  •  Extensible Internet of Things (IoT) sensor platform supports multiple sensor types
  •  Real-time dock door scheduling
  •  Smartphone and tablet enabled
  •  Enterprise enabled for tracking trailer shipments across multiple facilities
  •  Reefer monitoring option for recording temperatures, fuel levels and cooling cycles
  •  Increased scalability and reliability by using Amazon’s Web Services (AWS) platform

With these comprehensive supply chain technology features, companies will be able to integrate our YMS with their existing TMS to accelerate shipment times across their entire network.

DSC Logistics is Reaping the Benefits

Ken Heller, the SVP of Supply Chain Excellence at DSC Logistics explained how our new supply chain technology is integrating with their WMS for faster turnaround times:

“We have made significant technology investments to better serve our customers. By collaborating with PINC we developed the capabilities to integrate our WMS with PINC’s YMS. This provides the real-time visibility and execution capabilities to significantly improve turn-times for drop and live loads.”

PINC CEO Matt Yearling commented on the benefits of integrated supply chain technology for all of PINC’s customers and partners:

“Our customers and partners demand more value from their YMS solutions. This pivotal release includes modern integration technology, mobility and dock scheduling capabilities into a single turnkey solution, eliminating the need for stand-alone alternatives.”
